Actually that is very good feedback on my question about "completely" trusting Google. I was trying to stir the pot, but I was hoping to expose the opposite of the result. I always get the feeling that too many SEO experts pass on their mistrust of Google to the Audience. I will work on my wording of questions in the future to be as fair as possible. Great coverage of Pubcon and hope to see you in Dallas or Vegas.

Thanks Ash. I think that's a good suggestion. Another potential solution -- if the timing works -- is to review with each speaker what they intend to cover, and then adjust the session description accordingly. I think it was a good session, just not what I expected. Thanks.

Hi Gil,

Sorry about the In-House Session not meeting your expectations. The full description given to us was "Learn the best tips, tools and techniques for doing SEO in house. Learn all about the challenges and complications that might arise and the best way to deal with them in order to meet your SEO goals." I spoke mostly about the complications that arise in a large company and my tips were about how to get a job as an in-house SEO and then how to keep your job. In a different session, Microsoft's in-house SEO Derrick Wheeler said words to the effect that he doesn't do much SEO himself but he influences others to do the right things that add up to SEO.

I had a little think about your expectation of "SEO tips". The printed programme (and online) has a slightly longer description (longer than your quote) but I can see how you held that expectation. I was on the SEO 101 panels in the previous two years, so I wasn't expecting to bring "SEO tips" per se, which are different from tips about "doing SEO in-house".

In hindsight, I (or one of the others) should have included examples of SEO tips and how they are tackled differently when in-house compared to an independent SEO's approach. The moral is that all future moderators should revisit the final session description and ensure that someone has covered each part of it. Thanks for the feedback.
