Do Sitemaps Do Wonders?

I was at a talk on SEO recently where I was told that you need to do sitemaps. Google will be able to index your site 4x’s faster if you put them up. Unfortunately I have not seen this yet on The Pet Wiki. I put up a site map a couple of weeks ago, but I’m not seeing a big improvement. According to Webmaster tools, 160 out of 390 pages have been index, but when I check site:www.thepetwiki.com on Google, I only get 65 links. What’s up with that?

According to this expert, it is very important to have people link to you. To do this, you need to have good content. OK, I get that. But if you aren’t on Google already, how are you supposed to get people to find you so that they’ll link to you. I feel a bit like I’m in a Catch-22. I’m sure that I’ll figure something out.

Meanwhile, my mom has finish writing about Horses. We are jut a few images and videos away from making that section complete. She said that she’s ready to start attacking new dog breeds. When she finishes that, she’ll be off to pet illnesses. She started on that a bit, but there is a bunch more to do.

The truth of the matter is that there is always more to do. That’s what makes it fun! I can’t wait until I have time to really start playing with the interface. I like the Cavendish skin. It’s nice, but it’s not all that appropriate for The Pet Wiki. I’m sure we’ll get there eventually.
